GP RHS engine mount

Postby An Marcach » Sat Sep 13, 2014 9:19 pm

My top RHS engine mount has had it an needs to be replaced

I was planning on just getting a standard one and fitting that but someone over on the GP owners forum mentioned the Vibra Technics one and reckoned it was the way to go

http://www.vibra-technics.co.uk/mini_bm ... gine_mount

I can't see myself spending twice the price of a standard one on one of these but perhaps I'm missing something

:1icon_eek:

Have any of you fitted one of these?

If so what difference did it make (if any)?

Right, ignore the above, I've gone and got a standard one and I'll be fitting that over the next few days

I couldn't justify spending that much on an engine mount

I always worry about any aftermarket engine mounts , manufacturers spend millions on NVH ( noise ,vibration , harshness and whereas aftermarket 'performance' type mounts may provide better location it comes at a big price NVH wise . wise move I think to use OE .

I fitted it this evening and it's fully sorted the problem, no more clunking

And it was a quick job, half an hour or less, so it was nice to do something in that crowded engine bay and still have all my skin and all my knuckles when finished

Happy days

Oh and I forgot to say that the mount I took out looks like it was the original (nothing in the paperwork to say it was ever changed before and the history with the car is fairly comprehensive) and the replacement was identical in every way.

I got a "spurious" one made a company called SWAG (www.swag.de) and it was identical in absolutely every way to the one that came out

Looks like SWAG are the OEM mount suppliers

Just a thought I'd add that in case anyone could use the bit of info
