YET ANOTHER THING I CANT FIND IN THE R53

Postby Coopman » Wed Jun 20, 2012 3:43 pm

Where the hell is the jack and wheel spanner in the R53? Either it is severly well hidden or its missing from my car. I was presuming like the r56 it would be under the boot but no all i can find there is the car battery. I need to take the wheels off and where a generic jack and spanner will do i cant find the bloody attachment for the anti theft bolts.

In mine it's behind the removal panel on the left wall of the boot with the toolkit.

Negative on both. Must be missing i think. Any ideas as to how i can remove lock nuts without the attachment?

You get no jack but there should be a black and red pouch with the small wheel brace, tow hitch and the anti theft lock nut. It is normally in the left hand removable pocket.

You do get a jack. There's normally a pouch with a jack, small wheel brace too. The lock nut is usually under the boot carpet inside a small hole on the top of a rubber block next to the battery.

If you don't have a lock nut, you'll need to visit a BMW/MINI Dealership who'll trial fit every wheel key they have from their master set (It'll take a while, there's quite a few) and they'll order up a new one for you.

Thanks for the help guys. As much as i got lucky with this car mechanically the price is made up with all the things missing on it. Also while i've got some guys with similar cars here, are the 'Federal' tyres the original tyres that would have came on this car?

No, Federals are not OEM equipment, but they're not the worst either. I got some serious times down at Silverstone running Federals on my old JCW R53.

To be fair, every day driving isn't like Silverstone either, I had the Federals on in the wet around Ireland too and they really only broke free when I was trying to keep up with you Ger :)

Think i'll stick with the Federals so to save myself changing the two back. Starting a thread for this car called Niall's R53.
