just brought a mini after a 4 year break

Postby paulryan1990 » Sat Oct 20, 2012 11:12 am

Hi All
Been four years since i sold my last mini and have just taken ownership of a 1996 spi sprite 55k miles

owned by a friend for the last 8 years and has been sitting for the last two

Its current state:
Was stolen twice the joys of limerick !

so needs:
new steering rack
lock set
dashboard rebuild
small bit of welding on drivers floor
passenger door frame rotten at base but skin is fine which is strange
new bonnet as someone thrown a rock at the bonnet
radius arms and brake rebuild on rear
immobiliser it not working as i can start it without keys and fob :p
inside is manky and needs a good clean and new carpets
red paintwork is now a lovely bright pink but im hopeful a good polish should make it respectable

mini is completely standard and still has factory steel wheels so i think it is worth saving

The main issue is trying to figure out why the immobiliser is not working, my friend said it would only work on occasion before it was stolen. i now have no keys or fob .

ill get a picture up shortly in its sorry state

Sounds like an interesting job, especially the immobiliser :)
