Advanced and defensive driving course

Postby irlmin » Sat Feb 23, 2013 7:02 pm

Some of you may be aware Sinead has been taking part in an advanced and defensive driving course in Dublin and is really impressed with the experience , I thought it might be something we could organise for the Club members here in Cork and have organised with Colm Branigan of www.advanceddriving.ie/ to come down to the Peoples Republic for 2 days in April to do some 'one to one' 2 hour sessions with just 6 people over the 2 days .Anyone interested in going on to take the ROSPA test can continue with Colm in Dublin or if sufficient interest is there I am sure we can arrange further sessions in Cork . for more details see Colm's website or call me to make the appointment for the April 5th and 6th sessions , there are already 4 of these booked so just 2 available , call or pm me for details of cost etc etc , courses will be based out of the Oriel Hotel in Ballincollig , Dublin based members interested in upping their driving skills call or pm Me re booking something with Colm in Dublin .MCOI have always been interested in helping to improve members driving skills and with John Lancasters bi-annual track days in Watergrasshill allowing members to experience the limits of their car and skill on a closed and safe venue we now have the opportunity to have one of the countries most prominent and eminent advanced and defensive driving coaches pass on some very valuable and possibly life changing driving skills .

Lucky Sinead, don't some insurance companies give reduced premiums for this type of safety. It's something I'm a fan of & have been for a long time. Does he give Certs of completion afterwards, is it similar to Garda training? Must see if I can do this. Thanks for advance notice & info.

Yes Siobhan its based on the Police course,Colm has Specialist Advanced Driver Training with Chris Gilbert, former Police Advanced Driving Instructor & Examiner at the Metropolitan Police Motor Driving School Hendon. and having done lots of miles with Sinead driving I can not believe the difference in smoothness, observation , positioning on the road and overall confidence in just 4 hours with Colm . btw there is now only 1 place available for the 1st course , will I hold it for you ?

Great idea. Did an IAM course years ago (was so long ago, was still in my SEAT phase, and it was sponsored by Hibernian insurance!)

Always promised to do further training. Always good to keep honing the driving skills. Will definitely be in contact with Colm.

This sounds fantastic Ger. How do I put my name down for this? Or are the spaces gone?
