Postby Sheenab1983 » Tue Apr 02, 2013 12:40 pm

I think mines on the way out... Feck it anyway.

The resivoir is low so im going to full that and see if it helps. It's started coming and going intermittantly.
Is this definate failure and whats the position Mini Ireland are taking on this well known issue?

Sadly sounds like its nearly gone alright :(

I had to replace mine on my last Cooper S.
insane money at the dealers !! :(
But O'Leary's Mini specialists in Cork do them for a fraction of that and that's for a brand new genuine pump and fitting.

Thanks MiniMPI :) It was empty barely even showing on the dip stick, I have filled it to the recommended level and it hasn't happened since so I presume that was the issue and not the pump itself. I priced it with the stealer and he was talking over 500 for the pump alone! That was a close shave... Took a spin in a 2012
Works while there and I'm tempted...

Hi,

Hoping someone might be able to offer me a bit of advice, I'm at a bit of a loss! Power steering pump has been intermittent for the past month-nearly every time I sit in the wheel is heavy, and have to turn it off and on to reset it. It then ran down the battery last week. It's a 02 mini cooper s, with 100600 miles. Got in touch with Mini/BMW and after quite a fight, they said they would cover the cost of replacing it, pending a diagnostics test, to show the fault.
I had the test done this morning and the fault didn't show up! Don't know if this has anything to do with it, but I haven't been driving it for a week and a half, so it's had a "rest".
I've read so much about these on line and the problems with them, I'm terrified to drive it as I drive 60 miles to work every day, and It could fail completely anywhere on the road at high speed.
Conlan's in Limerick - where the diagnostics were done, said they could do further more in depth tests, to see if they can find the fault. Does anyone have any advice on this? Or know about these tests? This is more cost to me, as they said they won't cover the cost of diagnostics..... will the fault show through these tests? Help!!!
