cracked windscreen replacementl

Postby TBi » Sat Mar 07, 2015 5:09 pm

Got hit by a stone on way home. Started as a chip but this morning out had developed into a 10cm crack.

How hard will it be to get the insurance company to replace it with an oem screen? My mini has heated screen and rain sensor.

51312753976 is the oem replacement. Bloody expensive.

They have to fit the correct spec screen and I would insist on OE due to Auto lights and wipers + heated screen .OE may be their only option anyway .

They said they'd replace with Pilkington, an equivalent heated/rain sensor one. I'd have to pay the difference for OEM, still waiting on quote.

Is it worth the fight?

They ordered the screen anyway and it's a Nordglass. Not even pilkington. Definitely going to argue with insurance over this.

Nordglass are a Polish company supplying most of Europe's major Car manufacturers , the screen should be decent quality .

I'm glad they finally agreed that for you.
Just make sure they know how to remove the 'A' pillar covers on the exterior of the car.
A lot of them don't realise that they are held on by screws as well as clips.
The screws are in behind the door rubber.
