Modern Mini mag

Postby irlmin » Sat Jun 24, 2006 5:19 pm

Just picked up the 1st issue of the New mag 'Modern MINI ' . I was in Dublin this Morning and had an hour to kill and found it in Easons . on the return Train journey I had time to read it from cover to cover and I think I will reserve judgment until issue 2 or 3 . I found it not as 'glossy' as other mini mags and content a little scarce with 63 pages (this months Minimag has 162 pages ) I think it is a reasonably good effort and hopefully will try to cater for all MINI owners , those that are interested in Modifying , those that are interested in travel and road trips , those interested in features on Specialists , those interested in news of future products in fact something for everyone . I think that is where GO MINI failed , brilliant if you were interested in fashon and nightlife spots , no articles describing what the handling was like with various suspension setups , in fact no serious technical feedback from professional testers , I know not everyone may be interested in that but with MINIs now well out of warranty the modifying business is thriving and customers need a monthly 'fix' of tech info . What does everyone think ?

Is this an Irish publication? Haven't heard anything about it at all, and haven't seen any sign of it up here, though granted I haven't really been looking.

I guess 63 pages isn't bad for a first effort, maybe they're just testing the water for the first couple of issues?

Banana and I are in Dublin next weekend, so if I can't get it up here, I'll keep an eye out for it then.

We are working on it at the moment but it will be in Cork , various ideas being kicked about at the moment , We need a run and a 'social ' evening to kick things off , We will have decent accomodation with good rates at www.orielhousehotel.ie . the 'Oriel' is the Hotel We will have our meetings / gatherings at and is a really plesant venue with underground parking for those wet Cork Winter evenings .keep an eye on here for details . and any ideas for a launch anyone has We would love to hear .
