Hi all,
I have a very nice 1991 Mini with a 1300 engine and canvas roof. Problem is high emissions keep failing the NCT! Can anyone recommend a good mechanic in Leinster I can use for a proper tune up?? Many thanks...

Hi Guys,

Daniel S here!

In University of Limerick (final year Mechanical Engineering)! :banghead:

From Ennis, Co. Clare. :D

Looking to buy a R53 Mini Cooper S until I can afford insurance on a John Cooper Works version.

Also trying to sell my Ford Focus, so could be a little while before I get the Mini.

Anyone else from Limerick around? Ever go to Cars & Coffee? Would love to meet a few members and hear their opinions on the car!

Good choice in the R53, fantastic car.

Hi everyone,
I'm Tom, 23, from Dublin, student in UCD studying Computer Science.
Started off with a 91 Mini City that I bought when I was 17, then went on to a MK5 Golf, and now I'm back!
Just bought my second mini, a 1981 998cc, and looking to get it insured as my main car now that I've sold the golf.
Any advice on the best way to go about getting insured on it?
Thanks for the help,

Tom

Welcome to the forum! old cars getting very trickey to insure and your still slightly too young for classic insurance. Call around and if your having difficulty get onto a broker. They can almost always get you insured easier than you could on your own

Thanks for the reply!

I've tried a few places now.. Getting the same reply from most of them, they don't insure cars over 20y/o, even though the car still has to pass an NCT!

Any advice on the best broker to talk to?

Chill can be good. AA ive found to be useless for getting a reasonable quote.

If your havin no luck with chill.ie, try nononsense.ie and if your struggling there try some lesser know brokers such as o'learys insurance brokers. Best of luck!

yea it would be illegal, but i think they also have an exclusively male insurer , bot owned by the same parent company. they would probably just refer you there if you called

Hi,My name is Ferg.I bought an 07 Mini One last summer and fell in love with it! I'd be hoping to upgrade next year to a Cooper S.Love my car at the moment but have one major issue.Don't know if this is the place to post it or not but here goes. The panoramic sunroof has stopped working.I have it closed permanently now and have been quoted 2500e by BMW to sort it.Does anybody know how i could go about having this looked at or resolved. Thanks in advance!

Hi Ferg,
Welcome to the site , the Roof problem is a common one and we have replaced lots of them with new ones at a considerable saving on the figure you were quoted . contact me by PM or e-mail or indeed call me Monday and I will let you have some options .
