Wheel Rubbing problem

Postby marksminimolly » Wed May 13, 2009 11:16 pm

Hi guys,
Just got myself a new set of anthracite 12x6 wheels for my 95 cooper today. I previously had 12's on the car. But today when i put them on the car they are rubbing when i turn the steering wheel. I'm pretty sure its rubbing ff the wheel arches and the front wings.
Can anyone please help me or point me in the right direction in what to do.
Thanks,
Mark :1icon_pale:

The 'offset' on the wheels is causing the tyres to rub on the arches , a few solutions depending on how severe the problem is . is the ride height of the front of the car ok ? if its low have it raised this will help , is the tyre catching on both sides ? if it is you can move the front panel forward by using 'spacers' between the panel and the subframe ( this was done in the factory for the 6 x 13 Sportpack wheels ) and finally you may have to cut the front part of the wheel arch to clear , are you using sportpack arches ?

the front does appear to be a little low but not a concerning low. i am using the wood and picket wheel arches. it is rubbing on both sides i think. how hard will it be to cut into the wheel arches??more money i guess :1icon_frown:
