Offset for Cooper S alloy wheels?

Postby FrankH » Tue Nov 21, 2017 3:58 pm

Hi all,

I am interested in purchasing some aftermarket wheels for my R56, and am aware that the stock offset is ET48.
What I am curious to know is what the safe limit to use on my car would be.
Most of what I find in the used wheels available tend to be ET37.
Which I assume would poke the wheels out further a bit? But to the extent that the tires would rub somewhere?

Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Hi Frank m
MINI genuine wheel offset ranges from 45 to 52 , however I have seen cars with 37 offset used successfully , watch for center sizing and also watch weight as sometimes what you think is a lightweight wheel can be very heavy . I used Rota 'Subzero' 7.5 x 18 wheels on My R55 and they were the lightest MINI wheels I have ever used . the Rotas are also available in 17 inch ,
