Walnut blasting done - Now maybe Catch Can?

Hello,

Travelled to Cork to have my 2008 Cooper S (130,000KMs) blasted by Ger and Aidan. It is much smoother when driving and especially on a cold start and when idle, so a very happy customer.

As a follow up to this, I am now looking at oil catch cans (OCC). From digging around and reading forums and websites on this and the far side of the Atlantic, it is recommended that a can is put on the boost line and another can on the vacuum line to effectively collect oil and mist from going into the turbo and or back into the inlet manifold.

Some people seem to suggest blocking off the PCV hose and relying on just a single OCC, but others are vehemently against this and it makes sense why when you listen to the arguments. There is a crowd in the UK called GTT and these have developed OCC's for both the Boost and Vacumn side. They are supplied with hoses and adaptors and looking at their YouTube videos, the products look to be of a high standard and they seem to know their stuff.

So my question is, has anyone tried this particular brand and is it a worthwhile exercise to extend the life of my turbo and to prevent further buildup on the inlets and hopefully reduce the amount of oil use?

They did mention to me in an email, that if I just went with the boost OCC alone, it would capture 2/3's of the oil and protect the turbo but will still have some carbon build up albeit at a much slower rate.

Any comments welcome,

Thanks.
