ABS Warning

Postby Derfinn » Mon Oct 06, 2008 8:57 am

So there was was, tile shopping over the weekend, safe in the knowledge that I could spin around at motorway speeds after getting my puncture fixed on Wednesday.

Then what happens......ABS Warning light came on while heading home. The warning rotated between the ABS, then the tyre pressure indicator, and then a picture of a MINI on a jack showed up. Was on the M1 4:30 Saturday afternoon), and over the course of the next 15km, the warning repeated itself, and the ABS remained displayed in the Rev Counter.

Connie is booked into Joe Duffy's tomorrow morning for a full health check up, and they'll even run me into town for work. I'm rapidly changing my opinion of these guys.

Oh, and it looks like my exorcism hasn't worked (or please let this be the end of the run of bad luck!)

Hmmm...you didn't happen to notice if there was still a jack attached to the bottom of the car did you? That could cause some very unusual sensor readings, and could be what the problem is...

Derek I got an indicator one night at 10.30 pm in the lashings of rain that I had a puncture, drove to garage next day, they couldn't find one..I checked the tyre pressure and re-set the computer. Go figure! Hopefully Connie's check will sort it out for you, maybe they forgot to re-set the tyre pressure on the computer! Fingers crossed for you!

Thanks Siobhan!
Thought that at first, but the indicator was fine when I got the puncture fixed last week.
Thanks Adrian, had a look under the car, but my total inexperience couldn't spot anything untoward!
And yes, Mark. Hopeing for a change of luck soon! Won tickets for Tracy Chapman at the end of August, and it's been downhill since then! (Flooded apartment, puncture, abs warning, lack of plumbers in the Nth Co Dub area, oh and I forgot to mention the accident we witnessed in Kos! :1icon_frown: )

Just got the call from the garage.

The DSC unit has malfunctioned, and will be replaced under warranty. Apparently, this job would have cost €3,000! So that's a little bit of luck!

And as for the exciting life....you have no idea!!!! Currently, there's more going on in my apt block than there is in any of the soaps (apparently!!!).

Hopefully that's all is it then Mark, otherwise could be an expensive fix.

Got Connie back yesterday, and need her to run a few errands. But I got her back with a new problem. The air-conditioning light keeps flashing now.

Rang the garage, and was assured that the air-con unit would not have been touched with he refit of the ABS unit, but that something could have happened with the reprogramming. Have to go back again tomorrow for another check......

Usually a flashing air con light is a sign of too much gas in the system , they must have refilled it . We had one in during the week with the same problem , when we ran it through a re-gas program it was ok afterwards .
