Take them off the car. Wash them, break out the polish and wax them as well. Bit of a hassle, but only needs doing every so often.

Wonder wheels or meguires hot wheels to wash them. And get some tyre dressing to finish the job, meguires do the best stuff for this as well.

Re: Alloys & Tar

I have great wheels but they are hard to keep tar free, ok i've not de-tarred them yet... and won't be removing the wheels to clean.. Any advice on reducing build up? Its getting progressively worse in the nooks & crannies? Lots of spots on edges, around air intake in tyre etc.... That black line is tar :(

Buy Simoniz Wonder Wheels. It's a little bottle of liquid, and a brush. You just brush it on, and you can see the brake dust and tar falling off the wheel while you do it. One bottle lasts ages, I'm still on my first one.

Hi Siobhan as the others mentioned above ,Wonder wheels is a great one to use for getting rid of tar and brake dust and then wash of with soapy if you don't get it of the first time try it again but don't let the wonder wheels dry of on the alloys and if and i am not saying you have any cuts on your hands :) try not to get the stuff in the cuts,it can sting abit, and then put a coat of wax if you like on the wheels ,not your hands lol ,something like snap seal or any wax that won't take you to long to coat the alloys and trafagalger rubber dressing on the tyres,i hope this helps, bye for now regards jon :1icon_twisted:
