ride height

Postby marksminimolly » Sun Jun 07, 2009 8:33 pm

hi guys, got myself new wheels, 12x6. i got my wheel arches cut and they are still rubbing slightly. i think this is because the ride height at the front is too low.it looks so much lower than the back anyway. will i need new dampers or will it just be a case of getting new rubber doughnuts in the front suspenion??help me :l

Dampers won't help , just get the front height adjusted by using 'washers' , you need a cone compressor to compress the rubber suspension 'ball' but its no big deal to anyone with the correct gear .you can of course fit 'hi-lo's' at the same time and have an adjustable set-up

Hi guys, just joined up and I was wondering what the standard ride height is in mm. I am measuring from the top of the tyre to the middle of the plastic arch, also the car is on 12" wheels. I changed the suspension to coil springs and Hilos and set the ride height to 40mm all around but the exhaust still scrapes on some speedbumps.

There really is no definitive answer to that question as there are so many variables , I would say adjust the height until it clears whatever you need to clear on your everyday journey , make sure its not too high or indeed low as there will be problems with driveshaft angle and caster etc but I think its a case of adjust until you feel its correct for you and make sure you do your wheel alignment checked when you are happy with the height .

Thanks for the advice, I will raise it by another 10mm, that should be enough and sorry to marks mini for hijacking your thread
