CD Changer Fitting (Photos included!)

Postby MiniMpi » Tue Jun 20, 2006 11:31 pm

Owen,
Little bit of info needed from an expert!
I'm in the process of buying a secondhand cd changer from a guy on MINI2.
He thinks it was from a "Wave" type MINI.
Will this defo work with my "BOOST" type setup YES/NO?????
Need to know to go ahead or not.
Cheers Owen,
Fergal.

The short answer is yes. Both MINI and BMW use the same CD Changer looms. Where boost and wave differ is the other end of the loom where it connects into the head unit. It should be fine as far as I know. Worst coming to the worst, mikeythemini on mini2.com would have an adapter if it's needed, but I don't think it would be.

Thanks for quick reply Owen. :)
Went surfing and found post by MikeytheMini that confirmed that Wave,Boost and H/K work with same changer.
Cheers,
Fergal.

That's what I have. Dension ICE Link Plus, and an iPod. It's plug and play wiring, and you get a cradle next to the head unit just like a hansfree car kit, drop the ipod in, and away you go. CD Changers are so last century 8)

I'm only 36 you know!
I'll admit that I'm very "OEM" when it comes to cars :)
And I hate the fact that the cd prep is there and I'm not using it for it's purpose.
Right, that's my rant done for the day

How did you run the wiring Fergal? I normally clip out the right hand panel, relieve some of the plastic lip, run the cable through the relieved section, replace the panel, and there it is. I normally cut the carpet too parallel to the CD Changer, about half an inch in front of it, like they do in the factory to allow access to the repair kit storage area.

Neat job though, well done, and thanks for posting the photos! I sense the force is strong with you!
