Limited Revs

Hi there!
Bit of a strange one happening. The mini seems to be limiting itself at 3500 revs, no matter what gear I am in. Went travelling on a motorway, it peaks out at 3500 so I cant get upto speed too well.

Anyone have any experience of this?

never with a mini
once in a subaru
one of the ignition coils were gone
the computer was stopping the engine getting damaged
maybe something the same in the mini?

any other issues?
cutting out at junctions, less power etc

Hey, no other issues. Power does seem to be dropping a bit. Struggles to get over 100kph. In fact, sometimes power slows down and speed drops in any form of an incline, even though my foot is to the floor.

sounds like the subaru
not sure whats wrong with the car but i would imagine the computer is limiting it to save the engine

I should state it's an '89 mini!

Check the oil in the carb 'dashpot' and go from there ,

Finally got around to having a look!

Dashpot seemed fine, but I topped it up anyway. Car does seem a little perkier, but the limited revs is still the same. I was thinking that it could be an intake issue limiting the air, but I decided to try a few things to see if I could narrow it down.

Having the choke slightly out made no difference at all, just wanted to see if it had any bearing.
Took it for a spin and lifted my foot slightly at each 'limit'. When I accelerated again it would get higher up and limit again. I could repeat the same process and each time get higher revs.
