What tyres are those on 18's running?

Postby Rakey » Wed Aug 26, 2009 5:13 pm

Currently been running 205/40/18 Michelin Pilot Sports for the last few years, but can't seem to get my hands on any :(

So might need to consider something else, so wondered what other peoples with 18's are running.

I'm not going back to runflats!!!

Apparently the PS2's are no longer made, so I need to make a choice of something new.

So am I the only one on here that runs 18's?

I have the same problem as i will be fitting two to the Clubby soon.
Running JCW R95's ;)
Very little choice out there..... :1icon_frown:
I have Hankook Ventus on the front at the moment and Yokohama's on the back.
I want to stick with the 'factory' 205/40/18's but if i go to either 205/35/18's or 215/40/18's i can get Goodyear F1's :1icon_cool:

What could be the implications of fitting the F1's? As those could be tempting.

Also Ferg, what do you think of the Yoko's? How long do they last, how sticky are they? As they are something I am considering.

There are also some Brigdestones too I've found, but not sure about, or Toyo's

Oh my bad....could have sworn i could have got Goodyear F1's but mixed it up with Toyo's ;) Theyhave the different sizes.
I'm getting a set of Toyo TR1's for my S in 17" soon as well.
I find it hard enough on the road with the 40 series tyres never mind 35's ..... so don't think i'll go down that road.
The 215's then i fear will tramline badly.... :1icon_frown:
So will probably stick with the Hankook's.
The Yoko's are on the back and haven't worn at all and have been on for around 12,000 km's!
I'd prefer these all round but i can't get them anymore :1icon_frown:

I've found the Yoko S Drive on black circles, at £135 each, are these the ones you have Ferg?

Think I might take a punt on these if so.

Or my other option is Bridgestone RE050A

I have been using Continental Conti sports on 17s with a few years and will never change they are brilliant , quiet , really good in the wet , equally good in dry and decent life as well , I presume you mean non runflat Martin .

Right boys don't laugh. I have been running on SP SPORT 205/40/R18 runflats for the last 2 years. Was only getting 7k @ €230 each on the front and still haven't changed the rear (35k but need to change badly) At 28k made the decision to get off the runflats.

I purchased 2no. Nankang 205/40/18 @ €100+vat each. Cheap Chinese shit people told me. They were wrong. After 7k i still have at least half the thread left to play with. I can truly say i have put these tyres through their paces and they are performing just as well as the SP SPORTS. Even in the wet they are just as good as the SP which to be honest were not great. Oh and i also got in 10 laps of Mondello Park at a car club track day in June and they were great when pushed hard. Obviously not ideal but for a road tyre i had great craic and felt very confident with them.

BUT i tried to purchase 2 more recently and have been waiting 6 weeks for delivery and still no sign. Can some of ye please check out these tyres and if ye source them let me know.

If ye think i'm wrong please let me know, i stand to be corrected.

Hiya and Welcome to the site ;)
Are they NS2's?
I put them on my R53 S (17"s) and found them to be lethal in the wet !!!
The fronts lasted 10,000 miles and are coming off shortly to be replaced by Toyo proxies :)
