You need to stick to 4.5" x 10 alloys or you will need arches , are you staying with drum brakes or are you planning to go to discs ? the wheels you chose will need the 'offset' to be suitable for either application , ie the 'disc' setup has the hub center further out and therefore your wheels will need to have an offset to suit this whereas the drum setup has the wheel center further in and if you use the incorrect wheels they will rub on your shocks , I will have a look here and check if we have any in stock , We can do new genuine Minilites with Falken 165x70x10 tyres for about € 550.00 inc nuts / caps etc , you can find membership details on the front page .

will be sticking with the original brake(drum) set up..trying to keep the car looking like a classic, so i think that new one might stand out out like a sore thumb.so i have to try to buy 2nd hand..so i will need wheels with the centre inset. is that correct ?. tks for all your help

Ideally 4.5 x 10 some 5" may fit but most will require arches , there are now replica 4.5" steel wheels to original S spec available which are really retro look and can use the original hub caps etc , stw wheel is 3.5 " btw .

Jack
Welcome to the forum.
I have a set of 5 x 10 Dunlop mini wheels look like minilights that came off my 76 clubman no damage painted black, you maybe able to use you own tires 80 Euros and there yours, will fit and no arches needed I have a photo of the car with them fitted if you have any interest,
also I have a set of Gold centered and polished supperlight 6 x 10 only done 300 miles and are as new out the box fitted with falken tires not a mark on the wheels and tires are very good, 240 Euros. I have now gone to 13" on the clubman so don’t need the 10s anymore. Based just outside Mallow.

Jack
I can send photos if you send your email as a PM, I have on my pc and will send to you I ran with the 5 x 10 with no arches but the 6 x 10 do need arches, I also have 2 new tyres for the 10s and may also have a full set of 5 wheels but need to check.

There several options for disc brakes on your car , the 'usual' way was to fit discs / uprights / CV joints from a Cooper S from 63 to 71 or a 1275GT clubman from 69 to 81 , however there is a better way !!! we normally fit the uprights and drives from the 8.4 " setup and use 7.5" vented discs ( 8.4" machined down to 7.5" ) and aftermarket alloy 4 pot calipers , really good conversion and remember because of the increase in 'track' ( width ) you will also need the rear drums / longer studs with the built in spacer ,again from any mini 84 on . depending on which wheels you have you may or may not need arches , being an auto is no problem .membership form is available to download from the 'join our club' link on the front page with Ferga'ls address , or PM Fergal ( minimpi ) .
