Heater blowing cold-luke warm air

My 03 Cooper S is only blowing in cold-luke warm air when i turn on the heater, even when the engine has heated up. I take it this would not be a big issue and just somthing small? Is this a common issue?

Check the coolant level as a 1st step , the thermostat housings have a tendency to leak , we replace them regularly and in fact always stock them for Cooper and S models , if levels are fine its a diagnostic check I am afraid to run through heater control functions .
