That time again "new tyres needed"

Postby redS » Sun Feb 19, 2012 11:21 am

Hi all it's been a while since I've been on here..
Has anyone any experience with the federal tyres specifically

http://ssl.delti.com/cgi-bin/rshop.pl?d ... sowigan=So

I need new tyres and love the pirelli pzero but can't really afford 140 per corner at the minute with a wedding around the corner!! Any suggestions?
I know this is one of the most important parts of a car for safety so don't really something that will get me into trouble on a bend either!!!!

Hey Earl :)

Far as I know Owen had them on his JCW.
Worth a pm to him about them.
I've gone to Uniroyal Rainsport 2's recently. Excellent tyre especially in the wet. But work out dearer than the P Zero's though.... Whatever you do don't get Nangkangs........or Ditchfinders as they're known lol

I put a pair of Conti Sport Contact5's on my car recently. Non-RF. They made a big change to the car. Quieter and more comfortable. Bit pricey though but worth it.

Are Kumho a good brand? These are only 98 yo yo's

http://ssl.delti.com/cgi-bin/rshop.pl?d ... P&dsco=124

Cautionary tale: My friend got cheap tyres for his car. Took a corner a bit too fast, the tyres lost grip before the old (better) tyres. He hit a bush and joked about the fact that there was a wall on one side and a big pole on the other. Went to mechanic to get his license plate put back on and was told the car was a write off. When the car went into the ditch the tarmac caught the underside of the chassis and bent it back. So unless he claims insurance (and loses no claims) he's down 2000-3000 euro.

50 euro extra per tyre doesn't seem like much to him any more.

i hear you loud and clear, "i was that soldier" once too but i knew when i hit the ditch it was a right off :l
I completly understand tyres are the only contact we have with the road but that €200 extra will go along way to pay for something on the wedding..
im only traveling from Swords to Finglas everyday (roughly 5 mile) so not like im on back country roads anymore,
once i have something good under the odd heavy braking, and something that will get me around a corner in wet and dry without having to get out and push it around im happy..

I just remembered i have two P-Zero RFT's on my mini, same size as yours. I want to change to conti's all round so if you want Pirelli then i could sell you the two off my car for a good price (2 for the price of 1?). They have a fair bit of thread left on them because i don't do much mileage in the mini.
