Is this typical/common?

Postby minijohn » Sun Aug 19, 2012 7:51 pm

Hi all!

Can you tell me if my Mini should have this extension piece on top of the spark plug?

Also, my bonnet has two tears in the side return folds just beside the hinge bracket.
It's on the same spot on both sides.
Is this a common issue?

Thanks

Hi John,

Hard to tell from the photo but looks like someone changed one of the plug leads for a different make, possibly because it wore against the coil pack.

The spits on the side of the bonnet is a very common problem alright ;)

Fergal is correct , the plug lead is just another type and will do the same job , perhaps the only one available when a 'misfire' was diagnosed at some stage and a faulty lead was the problem . regular problem with MPi minis , correct new sets are available .
