Timing belt change

Postby yiska » Mon Apr 07, 2014 6:47 am

Hi,

I've been reading up on timing belts/chains as my mileage is at 45k (kilometres) and get the impression the Mini uses a timing chain - when do they need changing? Is there anything which I should be looking at changing around this mileage? It's a 2006 Cooper S convertible :)

Thanks!

The R53 MINI does not require regular timing chain changes , however keep an eye out for 'rattles' on start-up which are a sign of chain wear and make sure oil is changed regularly . but as regards chain replacement on R53 as the old saying goes " if it aint broken don't fix it " .
