Thought as much with rubber "dust" on the gaitor.. It was really stuck on though!
Actually, the new knob is too big for the stick, even with the allen key adjusted screws tightened, its still floating..
Any ideas as to what I can put or stuff on top of knob to keep it on nice and tight?
Cheers

A good 2 pack epoxy glue , I think thats what the last guy used and it seemed to work well .

are the instructions for taking the R53 ones off the same as the old models?

Its just a 'press fit' on your MINI , just give it a tap from underneath and it will fly off no problem ,you could use an open ended spanner that just fits the lever itself and slip that on the lever underneath the knob and give the spanner a tap and it will do the job as well . replacement is just fit over the lever and push hard down .
