Ok.. Ipod.. Have 40 GB one, white..changed it to smaller as the iPod is quite heavy while walking, of course when I bought it with the intention of walking until the songs repeated...... that was so not going to happen as it stores 10,000 songs!! Now you see why I went for the smaller versions! white. white iShuffle, grey iShuffle(like paperclip).. next on list.. iTouch.... have I told ye that already!! LOL. Mac Book black too! Mad on Apple!! full stop! :D

iPod 30GB Black which is now used as a portable hard drive as its been replaced by an 8GB iPhone.

Goes nicely with my MacBookPro. Now if only someone would get me one of those great new airPort Extreme routers with insanely large hard drives that backs up your computer every hour.....

Brian.

Hi guys,

I am thinking about jumping on the i-pod bandwagon, can someone give me some info on them, nano or classic? Easy to set up in car? Any other info you think might help too.

Mark.

Had a 4Gb Mini, that was blue. It lasted 2 years, before the battery needed to be charged every day. (Bit annoying)
It took a good few knocks, actually bust the casing, and the top white plastic bit was held down by sticky tape in the end!

Upgraded to a 8Gb Black Nano, that I just love (bought just before the iTouch was launched). It is a great machine, and a full charge lasts about 8 weeks (usage about 9 hrs a week!)

Incident free for months, and then I dropped it coming out of Greek one night for the journey home. Indented the casing, and the hold button became stuck. But a little bit of brute force won the day!

Yes the iPod's and Nano's are excellent!! Welcome to the Apple family! The only one I don't have is the Nano, but reviews of them are great. I would recommend you get skins for them as they tend to get scratched a little. Hope you got names etched on back for security... think its still free!

How come all the reductions are in Cork.. Any reductions up here in the Sunny South East!!

Thanks for the advice on the skins, I'll get two locally.... I can't wait to get all my music on it.

The reason I think most of the discounts are in cork is because the "main men" in the club are from that area.... I think members in other areas could try organize discounts in and around there own area... I have been meaning to ask in Deeveys and Autofactors in Waterford.

To be fair, no matter what iPod you use they all work in a similar way (except the tiny shuffle, it has no screen). You can't go wrong really. The nice things about the larger ones is you can put all your iTunes library on them and not worry about filling it up. It will also sync calendars and address books as well, which can be handy, especially if you loose our phone, etc.

The only thing I would advise is get a decent set of earphones, the apple ones are only OK... I had the Bose in-ear ones, they are fantastic great clear, deep sound from them, they are pricey though.

As for connecting to your MINI, there are hundreds of options at this stage, but the ones I have seen fall into three main types:
1) Direct connection to an AUX port in your unit from the ear phone jack
2) Connection for the 'data port' to the head unit
3) 'iTrip' style devices which broadcast from the iPod to the tuner in your head unit - these are the easiest as they require no installation, but results are not as good.

Good luck with the iPods.

I got a 160GB iPod classic just before Christmas and it is very handy. You can just put on the music you are in the mood for.
