Most people who knock iPods use the fact that the Zen is easy to use, and that it's easy to load music on to. In fact, the opposite is true. With an iPod, you put a CD in your PC, run iTunes, it imports the music and automatically puts it on to the device itself. One click is all that's needed. Just one. It even retrieves the album artwork to show on your player to remind you what the real album looked like.
The interface on the device is simplicity itself, it couldn't be any easier. Just choose Artists>Albums>Songs.
Also, the iPod has the single greatest choice of aftermarket accessories available on the market, all using the same, simple dock connector. It is THE car stereo Mp3 player standard, it has dozens of applications, from the Philips Sonos wireless streaming service for having music in every room of your house, to it's use by Cessna as a hard drive for their new in flight data recorders in the event of an accident.
It has all this market share, because it's so simple to use, and so simple to setup. All other manufactuers, Creative/iRiver/Microsoft's Zune, have tried, and failed. Most have been discontinued now, with the exception of the Zune which is still failing miserably. I did serious research into Mp3 players time and time again when it was time for a new purchase, and having used nearly everyone on the market for a day or so (Zen, iRiver, Zune, Cowon), none were as slick, or as refined as the iPod, and none had the list of accessories available that the iPod does.
