The MINI Club of Ireland

While on Mizen to Malin 2005 a few of us came up with the idea of doing a run with a difference.

Basically, the plan was to take in San Francisco, Highway 1 / Pacific Coast , Los Angeles, Las Vegas / Grand Canyon on a MINI Run, probably around September 2006.

Just want to put this idea out there at an early stage to see how many people might be interested, to investigate the logistics of the run, hire MINI availability, hotels, routes etc.

Jimskater was on MtM, so he has good local knowledge obviously, and I’m sure input from all other US members would be appreciated.

So fire away, all ideas appreciated !

Even though this trip started primarily as a Europe to the US idea, all MINIs are welcome, and actually encouraged - we would like nothing better than to have the local folk on board, and I imagine some may only want to do part of the run, perhaps, and some may like to do all. All are welcome !

An itineary will be posted in the first post when details are finalised.

Hotel details will also be posted here, which everyone can obviously book direct, again, when details are finalised.

OH GOD !

This event is really coming together now , lots of local clubs in California and Nevada now arranging something during the run as We pass through their territory . looking forward to it now , not looking forward to 11 Hours in a Plane though after the trauma of having to fly through Dublin Airport :cry:

Yeah, the flight wont be fun, esp with all these new rules - whos gonna stash expensive cameras and video cams in the hold now with all these rules

The baggage' handlers ' at LAX will have a great time with electronic devices alright , My Brother had a few cameras and such stolen from His baggage last Year . and that was before this episode .

I just bought a new High Definition camcorder specially for the trip - Id be afeared of my life to bring it now
