Road Safety in Ireland .

Postby irlmin » Tue Jul 11, 2006 8:17 pm

What a Week We have had in Ireland with road deaths , I am not going to get into causes and the blame game now , I will save that one for later . BUT I will ask all of you on here a question if You were the 1st to arrive at an accident scene would You know what to do ? I for one would not . and this was reinforced recently when a friend of mine came accross a very serious accident and He looked around the scene and saw one Guy not moving and another very seriously injured and chocking , He did not know what to do !! and had to wait for the emergency services to arrive , He had the presence of mind to call for them and watch approaching traffic etc . We are in a position to offer a Day long 1st Aid course By a Qualified Paramedic / instructor who will also issue certs on successfull completion of the course which We would propose to hold in Ballincollig in Cork . So Who is interested ? please give this some serious thought and let Me know if you would be interested enough to attend , if so the Club will arrange it .I would think a suitable Saturday might suit most People . I will need commitments for this and You never know the Day You could save a life with what you have learned .

Yes, I spend all day on the roads and I have come across a few bad ones in my time,I have also been involved in a few, and almost sure I caused a few. This is a basic "Life Skill" that everyone should know,as you said you never know the time or place when you might need it,to save someones life or for them to save yours.
I also think it is great for a club to be offering something like this to its members. It just shows that we care.
Well done G.

Yeah , I suppose a 'dawk' of a defibrilator would do Barry no harm right enough .on second thoughts I can think of someone who would put both 'paddles' up to his ears .

C'mon people, we need a few to commit to this, it is a certified course and something everyone should do. It should also be good fun. So I want to see 10 names on this next time that I log on.

I am going to post a pic that hopefully will make a few people wake up and think before they go out onto the roads , this is what happens when a Jeep meets a Mini in fog at 90 degrees , thankfully the driver walked away BUT think if a passenger had been sitting in the Mini . it can and does happen . as they said in a famous TV programe " be careful out there " .
