O.K. guys, I am s#it sick of hearing that the road deaths in this country are down to young people speeding, drink driving and "L" Plate drivers. The fact is the condition of our roads they are a discrace, where is our road tax going? I spent all day fri. driving up through England on wide, 3 lane roads and saw 1 pothole. Got off the ferry here and got rattled back to Cork. After the Nass road its all traffic cones restrickting the road to 1 lane for no apparent reason. Then after the Motorway finished in Portloise the road just got dangerous, single roads with no centrell reservation barrier nothing to stop anyone from crossing over into the path of an on-coming car of truck. The road is just to narrow for the amont of traffic useing it. Then it started to rain and whatever s@it is on the roads was being sprayed onto the winscreen makeing it very difficult to see where I was going. I know they are trying to upgrade the road with by-passes but the Michlestown by-pass has about 5 round-abouts on it, and the Fermoy by-pass has a toll on it. I have no prob. paying a toll if we were'nt paying road tax. We are the richest country in Europe and this is what we have to put up with. I just cant understand it. What an eye open'er to do 3 to 400 miles in the u.k. on 3 lane motorways with very little round-abouts and no toll's. When the T.D.'s come knocking looking for votes, they will be sorry that they called to my house.
