Festival Of Motorsport 2008

Postby AdyP » Thu Mar 20, 2008 11:52 am

Is anyone planning on going to this?

It's a 2 Day event taking place at Piltown, Co.Killkenny on June 7th & 8th. Basically it's to celebrate the Carrick-on-suir Motor Club's, 50th anniversary.
Everything required from printing tickets to signage etc needed to run the event has been sponsered. So all monies will go directly to Charity.

Here's a list of the type's of vehicles on display and the Event's running.

Classic & modern rally cars
Classic & modern road cars (but no boy racers will be left enter the show grounds)
Vintage cars
Vintage trucks and rally service barges
Vintage tractors
Vintage stationary engines
Vintage motorcycles

All the Top WRC Cars
Indoor WRC display
Irish tractor pulling federation display
World War I display (TBC)
Display from the road safety association
Motorcycle grasstrack racing (TBC)
Many more to be confirmed.

This is only a small sample of what will be taking place but it sounds like ti could be a cool event!

A number of car clubs will have their own designated area roped off to display it's cars . It is hoped that all drivers taking part in the 2 Day event will camp out on the Saturday night with, food , drink, large fire , barbaque etc......

The event is in Kilkenny so not too far away, anyone interested in looking at having a MINIClub area? Bit close to MTI I know.

Hi all

I spoke to one of the guys from the club and he said there would be no problem giving us a space if we wanted it. There would be no charge, of course if we wanted to pay the entry fee this all goes to charity so it would be appreciated. If anyone else fancies this it runs on Saturday from 12pm to 4.30 and the same on the Sunday.

We would be competing with the likes of Porsche and Subaru clubs for people's attention...so no competition really. :D

I will have a chat to the Committee and discuss if We could make this an official club event , the idea sounds good and would certainly raise the profile of the Club , if We do go with it I would say we do it correctly with the Hospitality tent and display gear etc , I presume We would be able to remove the cars to get to Hotels etc at close of show on the Saturday evening and re-enter on Sunday Morning , only downside is its very close to MTI .

That is the downside alright Ger, but maybe if some folk who can't make MTI could get to this it could cover our bases well.

The guy saw us on Patricks Day by the way, was very impressed with the showing :)
