From the rumour mill, there will be the launch of two new limited edition R56 MINIs for the 50th anniversary at Silverstone - remember at MINI United 2005 we had the launch of the Se7en, the Parklane and the Checkmate, it will be the same thing this time around.

Other rumours for the event include a new JCW Aerokit for the R56 which is supposed to be more agressive than the standard one, with painted arches.

This is shaping up to be a huge weekend. I'm planning to go to Silverstone, and hopefully to Poland afterwards in my car. Roll on MINI United!!

Woot! My car is featured on the MINI United page at the moment.

Click here for the MINI United 2009 Programme

And here's a concept of some T Shirts we're looking to get made up, they're the same as the door graphic for your cars :

Has anyone signed up on MINIunited.com? It's actually addictive, they've a facebook like setup, you put in details on yourself, your car, and people can check out each other's profiles, and comment on cars, and add each other as friends.

Rakey's there, I'm there too. Hopefully a few more of you will sign up too?

Just wondering is anyone having to choose between IMM and Mini United? And whats their preference. I'm going to try get to one, I don't know about bring Retro yet though, I'll decide that at a later date.

I had to mate, won't be able to make IMM. I think mini united is going to be more of a festival while IMM will be a big mini show. I could be wrong but if you do a few searches it'll give you an idea of previous events.

Or better still here are the links to the home pages of the events

If you have to choose, you should base your decision on what type of event you wish to attend. Both will be excellent, there's no doubt about that.

The IMM will be more of a club orientated show - which is no bad thing, whereas MINI United will be a kind of Oxegen Festival, with some serious track action thrown in under the floodlights too, plus the stunt driving school, the DJ's, Bands, Restaurants, Shops, and all the other side events too. It's a full 3 day programme.

I'm still on for both events - taking the MINI to United and one of the Classics to the IMM. :D

Not to be too forward, but I need to start planning.

Any news on the Irish contingent's plans for MU?
