MCOI meets Dublin

How about this, as the MCOI is mainly Cork based why not organise an event in the Dublin /Wicklow/Meath/Kildare area so as the rest of the country can meet the club.

There must be one or two minis in the area who would be interested in such a well run club.

I know BlueZed has been talking of organising a run there, and we'd all certainly make the effort to drive up. We just finished our second Waterford event supporting the members there, and we regularly have events in Kerry for the members down there too, so its not fair to say the club is 100% cork based, but your suggestion is a goodun, and I think we'll be up there sooner than you think :)

Welcome to the site too :)

A run up the country would be the job, after the last few Waterford runs a nice few Deise people joined up (so I have a few people around me into minis now :) )

Welcome to the site 66mini, I think I have seen you on a couple of the other online mini sites.

I did not nor would i say a 100 % Cork based . I have been known to put a post or two on other Mini sites. I feel it is only correct to keep your nickname.

Did anyone travel to IMM and saw the BMW Mini based crane ? If not i will try to get a pic as i think my brother got a photo of it.

I'd love a Leinster based run myself though, my family were from Baltinglass, and I had may a good day ripping around the Wicklow/Sally Gap on my bike, and stopping in Rosie's in Annamoe for what bikers in the area used to call 'The Sacred Scones'. There are some serious roads up there, all suited to MINIs and Minis too, and well worth a looksie! Glendalough wouldn't be a bad spot for a run either, great photo ops there.

Almost forgot to ask, what kind of Mini do you have 66? If you want to show off some photos, or whatnot, feel free to open up a thread in the Projects/Members forum, and gives us a looksie, the more the merrier.

I am very cunning when i chose the name. the V5 (uk car) said it is a 1966 Mini cooper. Hence the name , crafty what (remember it is a UK car)It looks more like a sportspack, 1.3 injection and 13 inch wheels.

As you came from Blessington area have you ever tried the 'Lake Route' We did it to-day great fun and narrow to book, not too sure how the big BMW minis would handle it but good fun with the Rover version.

I have yet to find a road that the classic can handle but the New Mini cant. As someone that is privileged enough to have one of each. I would love a good blast up the country again with an early start, so as soon as Bluezed pulls his finger out we can start a plan rolling. Alvin

Ken79: Well what do you think of them. I feel if you are in a club you take part and help organise if you can.

Cars are for being used. Attending car shows are fine but there is more to it i feel. I would be interested in the run to Antrim. The glens are great and with the Euro/Sterling deals are to be had.

I’m originally from up around the Longford-Cavan border… If anyone was interested I’m sure some of us could arrange a “road trip” and I could put together a run for up that location… This would be quite central for any members from the Galway direction and also very accessible for the Dublin gang. I’m sure we would also see oned and some of the northern gang down as it’s only a stones throw across the border.

There are some beautiful lakes and tricky little roads up the Cavan direction. For any members travelling a distance we could review the possibility of renting a log cabin in Killykeen Forest Park.

What’s the feedback folks? ? ?
