Field Day - Ballinrostig

Postby leyland » Thu Aug 07, 2008 12:57 pm

I have been informed by the organisers that there will be prizes given out on the day for the different sections so get polishing those minis. Also they will have fresh fish caught in the morning time available to the public. Other items include bouncing castles, children's games, crossroad dancing, Pig on a spit, etc, etc.
They hope to have Pat Shortt opening the event (to be confirmed).

Will keep you updated as I get the news in.

Field Day

Postby leyland » Sat Aug 09, 2008 1:38 am

Visited the venue today and spoke to Pat the main organiser of the event. They plan to have a number of attractions at the event. Lots to do for children and adults. Mini owners will have free admission to the event as we are part of the show, 2 TVs will be set up on site if you need to see the matches, Music will be on site all day with some classic, vintage and modern motors on display. There will be a seperate car-park for private cars within the same field as the event incase you are worried about transporting of babies, oldies etc. After the event at 17.30 hrs Pat was telling me that he is going to put on a seperate quality spread of food for those of you who have been good enought to bring your cars, There will be a charge of € 5 for this if required. No harm to stick in a folding chair for yourself and some rain gear as the day may be showery. We plan to have a Barbie during the day so all you need to bring is cup plate and knife & fork. Confirmation that we meet at Mahon Point shopping centre and not the B & Q Car Park. 10.30am -Leaving at 11.00am sharp. Will meet with the Midleton people at 11.30am at the Topaz petrol station (Petrol 1.25 & Diesel 1.36) at the start of the Whitegate road. If we have time we will take the scenic route down to the venue.
Hope to see you Sunday.

And on the way home I spotted a Chilli Red/Black Clubman with Fergals Clubbie overtaking it. It is not often you see 2 Clubmans on the road.

Thanks to everyone for a great day out. Sarah for the baking and part time photographer, Ger for the barbeque, Peter and Greg for setting everything up before we all arrived, and Richard for organising the run.
And everyone else for the great company and entertainment.

I couldn't make it either, I had a trip to Tullamore to visit a relative in Hospital. I got to see another Black/Silver Clubman on the road though Ferg, and around 30 MINIs on the road, along with a classic VW Club out for a run - lots of Beetles and original Golf GTis - not to mention Niall Collins in Abbeyleix with his Missus. My R53 got some seriously awful attention around Portlaoise though, every young scumbag with a shiny wheel wanted a race!

Looks like a great event, anyone want to write a synopsis for the front page?
