There are some details up in the air to organise Starry, but as soon as Alvin gets the final details, I'm sure he'll put them here, which will be followed up with an announcement both online, and through our text line.

Details as I have them is that the parade we are attending this year is going to be in Waterford again (sorry Limrick and Galway maybe next year). The parade will take the same route along the Quays and out the Cork Rd. It is officially commencing at 1:00pm on Tuesday 17th March and the theme of the parade is 'Capital of Colour'
So I guess if we just meet up in Supervalu as we did last year around 11:30 - 12:00. Sorry I dont have directions to Supervalu, Starry might tell us how to find it.

Its very easy for those coming the Cork route- I plotted this on google maps and edided it to make it handy as possible.

1. Continue straight onto Cork Rd
2. Slight left at Brown's Rd - this is just after all the car garages as you enter Waterford - Its a little one way slip road
3.Go through 1 roundabout (2nd exit - strigh through)
4. Continue on Tycor Rd 0.3 km
5. At the roundabout, take the 2nd exit onto Slievekeale Rd - So you still going stright!!
6.You will come to a set of traffic lights - Turn left at Morrissons Rd/R686
Continue to follow R686
7. At the end of this road you will come to a set of traffic lights - stright through again and you will see Supervalue carpark on your right.

For those coming over the bridge its even easier - drive stright up Summer hill, through one set of traffic lights - you will see the Supervalue carperk on you left

Or alternative Route from Cork; Not subject to conjestion!!

Pass through Kilmeaden
Pass Holy Cross Inn (on left)
Pass Whitfield Clinic (on right)
Roundabout- go left, you will see MINI (Bolands dead ahead), go left
You will pass B&Q, Harvey Norman, TK Maxx
Roundabout-3rd exit.
Roundabout-1st exit.
T junction- go right.
T junction- go right (drive over speed bumps)
Traffic lights.
Straight in front is Supervalu/ Heatons!!
Destination arrival!! :)

This is new link road and not very busy, just handy as all gridlock is avoided! Just another option in case time is tight!! :) Also handy for heading back..

Drive from Clock Tower towards bridge.
Drive straight through lights (do not go over bridge)
Pass Brewery on left, big silver cylinders (water on your right)
Follow road, tight left bend at end, stay left
Top of hill, veer left.
T junction, go right.
T junction, go left.
Roundabout, 3rd exit
Roundabout, 1st exit
Pass TK Maxx, HNorman, B&Q
Roundabout-take 3rd exit (This is Bolands MINI Roundabout)
Pass Whitfield Clinic on left, Holy Cross pub on right
Now your on road to Kilmeaden and road home, Journey time 2 hours or less!!

Hope to see you all there!

Parade day could be changed!

Postby Bawnee » Mon Mar 09, 2009 12:00 am

Word of warning!!
Something to do with Sport (I'm not into Sport at all so don't know what this is about) and Waterford getting into some final, think St Patrick's day the big match is on, so they might be moving the Parade to the Sunday. Don't take this as gospel, i'll keep my ears pinned, maybe Starry could keep us posted... Can you imagine, we all arrive and no parade! :l

Thanks for the word of warning Siobhan.

That'd be awful if it was the Sunday.

I can assure you Siobhan, the parade will be on Tuesday the 17th of March and you can take that as Gospel.
