The lads in work here think I am a complete nutter as I told them what we got up to this weekend!!! What a weekend it was! Had a fantastic time.... everything was so well organized - from safety to enjoyment of the route. The roads were super... driving up the Healy Pass at 2am in the morning was the best fun I've had in a long time. Those poor sheep didn't know what hit them... (eh, Oliver??). I think they all skipped out of the way to be fair....
Major thanks to Alex for going down and getting the feast prepared for us, to Ger, Greg, Pete and Fergal etc for putting up the marquee in advance...and the best thanks to Alvin for organising one hell of a run - it was a great idea that only a nutter could have come up with it... no wonder it was such a laugh!!! You've set the bar!!

Well done

Sorry I had to miss this guys as Alvin always comes up trumps on his runs. Seems like ye all had a fantastic time and it was great that the weather was so good. Another first for MCOI and well done to everyone that helped and took part. I need to organise myself better for next year's event.

I agree Richard the Solstice run definitely has serious potential , it is a good concept and its amazing how quiet the roads were , I think next year should be promoted early and advertised , some may think its only suitable for the 'hard core' Mini fans but when you factor out the odd hours it was really pleasant , good laugh at the Coffee stops with everyone gathered at the top of Borlin , and of course the breakfast BBQ was brilliant , a definite 'MUST ' for next year .

I agree Ger. I certainly noticed, through the tired faces on arrival at the marquee, there was a great sense of achievement along with the feeling "were we mad in the first place to even have tried this". After a short rest, chill out and a coffee, the brightening dawn led to a totally relaxed banter session (not to mind egging session).
It was a pleasure to be with such a great bunch of people.
Well done Alvin yet another one that'll be difficult to top.
A challenging, well planned, well executed and most of all highly enjoyable event.

Alex

Will be planning this into any leave taken next year.

The pics are brilliant, and the whole idea behind it is just, well, mad!
Will definitely be there for 2010!

POT KETTLE and BLACK come to mind , Sarah a 'little birdie' told me -----well he would have if he wasn't splatted all over the South link by 'Charles' that you should watch out for low flying birds when returning from the Solstice run

I think Olivers Lamb has more potential in the 'culinary' stakes ,

Sounds like the wildlife of West Cork was truly decimated!

Was the BBQ in danger of running out?????
