Cork City Hospitals Childrens Club

Have put this in General Forum as well...
Hi Guys,
As you probably remember from last year, The MCOI got involved in helping the Cork City Hospitals Children's Club transport children from their hospitals down to see Santa in Fota just before Christmas. For these children, this is a wonderful experience and I, personally, was delighted to have helped out and it was worth it when I saw the delight in the childrens faces when they met Santa and all of the other characters at Fota House, as well as the huge feast and entertainment the charity had laid on for them. The MCOI and I have been very fortunate to work with this charity over the past two years and the club have asked us to be involved in this event again this year.
The event will involve collecting one or two children from the hospitals in Cork and driving them down in a procession to Fota House. Once there, the children get involved in the party and we are free to leave, although I have to say, last year, the guys from the charity looked after us extremely well.
There are three runs this year:
Thursday 3rd of December - 1st run at 8.00am from the CUMH (Cork University Maternity Hospital)
- 2nd run at 1.30 from the Cork Deaf Society on McCurtain St
Friday 4th of December - 8.15am from the Mercy Hospital.
I will be doing all three runs and it would be great to have as many Minis as possible for this. So, if any of you are free to take part, please let me know here or send me a PM. This is really something special to be a part of, so if you can, let me know.
Thanks again everyone,
Sarah

Another fantastic day out in the Mini’s and what fun driving through the near empty streets of Cork with a multi Garda Cars and M/Bikes escort.. sirens blazing, quickest I have got through Cork for a long time, and you should have seen the smiles and excitement of the Kids.
Well worth the effort, and a extra big thanks to Sarah for giving up her holidays the last two days to join up with the organisers on behalf of the Club.. well done again...
Thanks to everyone for turning up and making the day for the Kids. A Special thanks to the Sig who turned up and stole the show for the morning.
Pictures coming soon.

Hi guys.....
Just saying a huge thank you to everyone who took part in doing the runs the last two days - Owen, Ernest, Mike, Laura, Fergal, Oliver, Mairead, Emma, John and Richard - you guys were fantastic for joining me on the days - especially Mike and Earnest for doing all three runs.
It was amazing to see the children really enjoying themselves and the volunteers from the charity really put in such a tremendous amount of time, effort, patience and very hard work. They really are fantastic with dealing with the children, always have smiles on their faces in front of the children although I know myself, it's very difficult to remain cheerful when you see what some of these children have to go through on a daily basis. The people in the charity really make a huge difference to their lives and I cannot commend them enough for what they do, and I have to say I am delighted that our Mini club has been playing a small part in this charity's events.
So thank you again to all of you who helped me out over the past two days - I know there were two very early mornings and it's not easy getting time off from work to take part so I really appreciate and I hope it was as worthwhile experience for you as it was for me.
