The Hardy Alpine Run

Postby swampette » Tue Apr 27, 2010 7:56 pm

My eldest brother Jules and I have put together a run for Sunday 9th of May. I know this is coming close to MTI but should definitely get us into the Mini Run spirit in time for the end of May!!
This route will take in some fantastic mountain and forest roads covering West Cork mainly.
We aim to meet at Lissarda Petrol Station on the main Cork to Macroom Road at 10.30am, in order to depart for 11.00am at the dot!! The plan is to have a picnic on top of one of the mountain ranges - weather permitting - we have an alternative picnic location if the weather is too bad. We will be finishing up in the Kilgarvan area so there will be the option of a coffee stop on the route back to Cork in either Ballyvourney or Macroom, depending on time and taste!! The run is approx 90Kms long, taking in two mountain passes, four farmyards, two gates (that will need to be closed after we go through), a tunnel and a rabbid dog!!
This will be a fantastic day...perfect for getting us in training for some serious driving routes for MTI!
Let us know here on the site whether you will be joining us. If you have any questions, you can call Jules on 087 9958735 or send me a PM on the site.
Looking forward to seeing you there on the day!!
Regards, Sarah :alien:

Just a reminder that if you are attending the run on Sunday to bring along your MTI entry/ entries as time is fast approaching and the organisers need to finalise on bookings etc. So lets do our best to help them out. Looking forward to the run Julian as hear you have put alot of time and work into it.

Great credit is due to Julian and company on the run today, Fantastic choice of roads and chosen stop locations for coffee and goodies. Sarah came up trumps on the home baking and well done to Christ B for having the cake for Mick's birthday which we celebrated in the mountains on a lovely sunny day. Happy birthday Mick and many of them. Both Sinead and Breda went topless for the day as we were again haunted with the weather. In all a great day which was enjoyed by all who attended.

Thanks for all the organisation for this event. Julian.
