Patrick's Day Parade in Fermoy 2011

Postby leyland » Thu Jan 13, 2011 1:04 am

Another mini event we will be attending in 2011 is the St Patrick's Day Parade in Fermoy. We hope to have a great turn out of members for this fancy dress event for adults and children. More information will follow on times, meeting place etc during the next few weeks.

St. Patrick's Day Parade in Fermoy. It takes place at 11:00am at Cavanagh's Garage Cork Road and finishes in Patrick's Street, Fermoy.

We need to meet at least 1 hour before the start as light refreshments are being laid on by Kevin, Marie and family and we will need to dress the cars and put on our fancy dress costumes. St Patrick himself has promised to travel with us so we should have plenty to laugh about. Prizes for the best costumes.

Hope you all are getting your costumes ready for the parade and ideas for decorating the cars, Has anyone got a towbar for a classic or new mini that we could borrow as we may need it for the float. Plan B is that we get a few volunteers to pull it. Plan C is we get St Patrick to walk or tow him on a skateboard.

Just 5 days to go for the Fermoy parade. We have a lot of interest and are getting there with the planning. Remember to get your costume out and dusted down and get the cars cleaned as time is moving on. If there are members who have their cars off the road and will not be ready for the event just let us know and we will involve you in some way on the day. If you are a new member or potential future member just turn up as we would be delighted to have you share the fun and celebrations.

Looking forward to seeing these & the costumes! Happy St Patricks day everyone!

Sing a song of shamrocks! Dance an irish jig! Pour yourself a hearty drink, and take a healthy swig! Tell a tale of leprechauns! Drape yourself in green! And have the best saint paddys day the world has ever seen!

Great turnout for the parade and I hope everyone had fun, The winners of the the most original costumes will be presented at the next event and it will be a tough decision as everyone looked fantastic and made a super effort with all the colour. Well done and a big thank you to Marie and Kevin for the welcomed drinks and food at the start and everyone else who supported us for the event. And yes was'ent it a bonus that we won a beautiful trophy for our entry which St Patrick himself collected off the organising local council members. The photos will tell the rest of the story.
Thanks to all,
Richard
