Patricks Day 2012

Postby leyland » Wed Feb 08, 2012 11:55 pm

The mini club of Ireland have been asked this year to attend the Cobh 2012 Patricks Day Parade. The event this year will run with the theme of Cobh 100 years ago in 1912 when the Titanic had its last port of call before disaster happened. We will be organising a few special displays over the next few weeks and will need any help available to make this special and one that we will all remember in years to come. If you have any inspiring ideas please contact the committee soon.

Plans are well under way for the parade at this stage, Looks like we will have a strong turn out and people are getting their fancy dress organised. St Patrick has confirmed he will be joining us and we especially welcome the younger members at this event for a bit of fun. More updates on meeting place etc later.

Update. Due to the expected size of the parade in Cobh this year the organisers are running the event in the opposite direction to other years. We will be meeting at 2.15 pm at the lower pier wall and will be teaming up with the Cobh classic and vintage motor club. Only a few shopping days left so get your custumes and outfits ready. Please update me if you have a special float etc as I have to make up a small bit about the club for the organisers.

Hope you guys have a ball this Paddy's Day.
Was thinking of scooting down, but won't be able to. One of the neighbours is hosting a do, need to be there instead.

Hope to see you all soon!

Pity you cannot make it Derek as it should be special especially with the year that is in it at Cobh. Enjoy the occasion at your neighbours place.

Cheers

Unfortunately the whole of Bandon has decided to open on Patrick's Day so I will be stuck at work for the day. :1icon_cry:

Meeting point will be at the lower pier which is adjacent to the railway track. Take a right turn after you pass the old dock yard when coming from the Fota direction. It will be sign posted and stewards will be on duty there. Meeting time of 02.30pm to 03.00pm in order to put final arrangements in place. Bring as much ballones, decorations etc as possible and as mentioned already fancy dress is optional. Hope you all have a great St Patrick's weekend.

Thank you to everyone who turned out today for the Cobh parade. I was amazed by the colour and effort put in by everyone and thought the cars looked fantastic. Well done on the fancy dress guys. Talking with the organisers afterwards they said it was the biggest parade for Cobh ever and are looking forward to the 100 years Titanic events in 2012 which we are also going to be invited to take part in. Going mad I did not get time to meet more of the mini club gang but will catch up the next event which we will be annoucing shortly.

Thanks again and have a great long weekend.
