There is no need to be thanking me as I didn't do anything really, but a big thank you to Liz and her staff for making us feel so at home. I was up there to-day to thank her in person and she was very pleased with the evening and at how well behaved we were  . Between us we managed to put 3,697 euro in the till, and when Paulie collects his sat nav. it will be tipping the 4,000 mark, so well done all. This is just another type of event that we (the committee) looked into for the winter months, and it was a real success, so it will be repeated at some stage. I must say I really enjoyed walking around and chatting with everyone in comfort and not having to worry about the wind and rain. So thanks everyone who turned up on the night and making it such a success.

I picked up a load of CFL bulbs for the house in Halfords, but not the normal type, these are tiny, and very discreet, the whole house's on CFL now. Hopefully that'll offset the Environmental Disaster that is the new PC

I read on an ESB leaflet that came through the letterbox the other day that the ESB in conjunction with Tesco, but moreso Tesco , are offering CFL bulbs at buy one get one free.. They cost €6.49 each for a 20W (100W in old bulbs), and they say they last for 12 years.. and use upto 80% less power, so get out and do your bit for the environment!!
Pity they dont make car bulbs

I know this is the Halfords thread, but its related

We changed over to these years ago , IKEA had them for something like £1.50 each even back then , at the time they were £ 15.00 each here , they do last and apparently do save a lot of leccy , only downside if You could call it that is they are slow to reach full 'brightness' compared to normal bulbs .

Yeah, my Dad went thru a "save the environment' phase and fitted these bulbs in our house. You're right about the slow brightness Ger....when you turned them on, they took ages to fully brighten up....good for when you're getting up in the morning and turning on the light though!
