The Irish Job 2 24/25 Feb 2007

Postby nylo » Thu Feb 01, 2007 11:22 pm

Thats to 1LightningD for the heads up, I hadn't even thought to post this event in here (very remiss of me, sorry!)

The Irish Job first took place last year in February as a bit of a run and social weekend. We were really lucky with the weather, and about 15 or so MINIs turned up for the event.

We've got a couple of guys coming over for England for this, and it should be bigger and better than last year.

As taken from mini2:

Saturday will be the longer run, with a trip round scenic Lough Neagh with Sunday probably a run to somewhere for a pub lunch so that those travelling back can get away.

***Lunch on Saturday will be a bring-your-own affair at one of the planned stops, so please make sure you have some grub with you!***

Base will be the Radisson in Belfast as it's handy and has a big car park, though there will be a slightly later meeting point at the Lough Shore park (at the Antrim Forum) for the Saturday run for those who won't come through Belfast.

Up to date list of attendees:

Nicky & Derek (with MINI from England)
JR (probably flying from England)
Aiden & Denise
Carolyn
Lesley
Peter
Peter's dad
Ian
Alan
Niall (Step)
JP
Lisa

Prices for the Radisson

Radisson SAS Hotel, Belfast
The Gasworks

Price is per room, per night.

Single occupancy: £60 room only, £70 B&B
Double occ: £60 room only, £80 B&B

I had thought of Bourbon for a bite to eat on Saturday night for those who are interested, as it's got plenty of room, and is fairly central so we can go on for a drink somewhere else, what does everyone think of that?

Can you confirm how many you'd like me to book for too, as this will probably need to be booked sooner rather than later

Either register your interest here, or over on mini2:

It is very much a MINI event, but I do know Ian is almost definitely bringing his classic. PLease note however that we haven't made any provision for break downs etc!

David Prentice Portadown is interested on getting in on the event, and I'm currently in negotiations with them as to what part they will play. There is a thought that we may raise some money for charity, though this will be confirmed in due course.

Good man Aiden. The restaurant was very nice when I was in it, and it has a pretty varied menu, so hopefully everyone will find some thing they like

Step, would I be cheeky? Would I?

Gerard, at the moment, Sunday's run will start about 10am, or 10.30, and we'll stop for lunch about 12.30 or so at a nice country pub. I have no route notes done for the afternoon, so after lunch will be a case of anyone who wants going for a scoot, and those who wish could get off homeward.

Lunch will be in Lisburn, so not too far from the motorway
