Rolling road

Postby iwanagofast » Fri Jun 01, 2007 8:02 pm

Before I went away this time I was talking to Ferg and Mark about getting the cars on a rolling road. Mark found one in Waterford. Maybe we could organise a trackday/big karting session with it.

It really is a pointless exercise ,there are so many variables that the figures mean nothing , also if the operator is not at the top of his game and doesn't have a really good understanding of fueling and doesn't have the car hooked up to a very good gas analyser You WILL do damage , Cooling is also a big issue You really need a big fan to replicate the intake of air from a moving car , We had a rolling road years ago and sold it as we realised it was more trouble than it was worth , I had a tyre burst at 120mph on a Rover Vitesse on the roling road and when you see what damage a tyre breaking up at that speed will do to the roof of the building you will soon realise its a dangerous place to be and not for 'fun' I have seen several engines wrecked by incompetent Dyno operators from holed pistons due to lean fueling to complete 'blow-ups' ,so Guys I won't be there .
