New post indicator

Postby ONED » Mon Jul 31, 2006 9:38 am

Owen, noticed this before, and it's bl**dy annoying! :(

...but the new post indication (orangy browny thingy) dissappears after reading a few posts :? :(

I logged in this morning, looked down the forum index, saw maybe a dozen new post markers, went into Gen Discussion, saw 8-9 in there, read the first few, went back to Forum index, and all the markers had dissappeared!

just means you have to look down all the posts by date to work out if there have been new posts since last visit!

Comprende?? :?:

Yes, you're taking too long to read the posts. Simple as that. If I visit the site, it will show me the new posts. If I remain idle for a long while, or go away, the engine driving the website assumes you're on a new visit, and then shows you the new posts since your 'last' visit. Perfectly normal.

Try the reload button too, it's your friend. Lastly, make sure whatever browser you're using isn't timing out the session after a few minutes.

What I'm trying to say is that if you're the only one who's having these issues, then it isn't the setup on the site

Owen having bigger problems with this now! :?

Go into Forum index........See a few threads with New Posts

eg in General discussion

...got to general discussion but cannot see any new post indications at all ! :?

Then go back to Forum index again...and all new post marks have disappeared.
:?

Before you thought this was an issue with the time taken to read posts, but it's deffo not that, coz its doin this straight away.

BTW now running Firefox as reccomended

Delete your cookies for miniclub.ie and try again Barry, sorry about this, but it must be something on your end. Could it be a NI Bermuda Triangle perhaps?

I get this too actually both on Firefox at home and IE at work - Probably how I missed this the first time round! I don't get it on other phpBB based sites.

Not really a problem to me but just letting you know that it isn't just Barry! :)

Weird. I don't get it on my work, or home. Could anyone else having issues let me know on this thread?
