E Bay

Postby Starrywalsh » Mon Apr 21, 2008 5:41 pm

I am just wondering if anybody here sells items (of any sort) on E Bay... Is there actual profit to be made. I have actually listed my first thing ever for sale on Ebay today just to see what happens. I have loads of "dirt" that I could sell on when I think about it.

Here is the link to my first item
http://cgi.ebay.ie/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie ... :IT&ih=018
What do ye think? Am I destend to become a millionaire? :D

just remember starry. When the sale is complete ebay will take their commission, very low anyway BUT thet cant take commission on the postage so if the postage is listed as €10 and only costs €6 you make the extra €4 for yourself! Just make sure you cover yourself with the postage cost as it could cost more than a tenner to post to usa!

Oh Thanks Ken, I have it down to be a tenner in Ireland - the actual cost is 6 quid.... standard postage to the states is €22 for an item that weighs 1 KG according to an post... I am really just getting rid of this thing... In Waterford if someone gives you Waterford Crystal it is actually concidered an insult  I know people who would just break it for the crack!! I have broke alot of bits myself when I was in the factory, I wish I'd taken the time to Ebay it all back then.

If you think the bidding is too low get a friend to bid on your item to keep pushing up the bids. ebay dont like this and are fairly strict on it but it happens all the time. Add a message to your page telling people outside irl to email you for postage costs to their country... that way you cover yourself!

Dont forget to add the packaging cost on as well!!

I am not going to bump the bid up, that has happened to me a few times and it was not nice, I would not mind letting it go cheap.

dont blame ya.. happened to me lots and its so frustrating! Especially when ya loose an item for the sake of a quid! Thats the idea of ebay.. get rid of the stuff ya dont want... like a worldwide car boot sale!!

I lost a moulded mini dashboard. Was outbid by one feckin pound!!

Fair play to ya.. giving it a go!! You never know you might make your holiday's a one way ticket to paradise!! I once got a present of a pair of swans from the factory, when i lived in Waterford, and loved them.. They got broke during a move!! I did some laughing when i read of people breaking them!! :)

Best of luck with eBay!! It'll be a learning curve, no doubt!
