Honeymoon in Ireland

Postby Rakey » Mon Mar 02, 2009 1:38 pm

As the thread says on the top ;)

Just in the planning stage at the moment, but we've decided to stay over after we get wed, do a week touring round.

So anyone got any suggestions of places we MUST see while there?

Or any suggestions of really nice hotels that would make it a proper honeymoon?

Wanting to see a bit of Dingle, as I've never been there before, then thinking a bit of time in Co.Clare and find the perocial house, and some time in Donegal too.

But anything you guys can recommend is greatly appreciated, as I'd like it to be a memorable trip over :)

22 views and no-one has any ideas? I thought you'd be itching to tell us of the really great places to see and visit and stay in Ireland.

If your really pushing the boat out hotel wise (well it will be a honeymoon), and will be in Co Clare, you should check out Dromoland Castle (or is it Ashford Castle..... :S ), but it is VERY expensive, but I'm sure that there may be some special offers going around at the minute.

If your going to see the parocial house, then you have to see the Burren. That was featured in the Old Grey Whistle Theft........

If you're driving up the west coast my home town is worth a look, Clifden in Connemara. Abbeyglen Castle is a great spot to stay there. And you get there on one of Top Gears greatest drives!
If you're going to be stopping in Clare a night or two on the Aran Islands is more than worth it. You'd have to park the ca up but I could prob help you on that.

I think the plan is to drive up from Newcastle to the North, and then head over towards Donegal, then drive down the west coast.

Must start getting this sorted out, its not that long :1icon_eek:

Right, I'm pulling this together now and need to get some hotels/accommodation booked.

Sunday - Bushmills Inn (if possible)

Monday - Donegal

Tuesday - Clifden Station house

Wednesday - Dingle or somewhere between Clifden and Dingle, we want to go find the perocial house ;)

Thursday - Dingle

Friday - Dingle or somewhere closer to the ferry at Rosslaire

So was wondering if anyone has any recommendations for these places on where to stay?
