Lots of hard graft and skill went into that sweet machine, love the side detail, its green yes? And the dials, left of the steering wheel.. :) Congrads, such an achievement Ryan.. Post up in Members cars(membership cheap!) and tell us what you did... i'd enjoy a good read! Welcome by the way :wav:

so the low down on the project

it all started in 2004 when at the ripe old age of 11 i decided that i wanted a car, to drive round the field. after constantly nagging dad and mom about this for months. dad stated looking at cars he had always wanted another mini so we seached for projects in the papers and online until this one popped up
it was in drogheda. the lads who had it before were trying to doing it up for a 17th present but failed and the kid settled with a fiat so the project went up for sale at £500 pounds dad thought it it looked resonable. so we went up to look at it and bought it. on the 15th of july 2004 the mini came back to banteer.
at this pointed i should mention me or dad had no mechanical skill what so ever. so first buy haynes manual.
we started very slowly strpping away at it
the mini dint make much progress for awhile as we were building the now called "mini shed"

in mid febuary 2005 the car was rolled and pushed to new shed (in first pic)
from here in the work pace picked up a bit with me now stripping doors glass and interior.

the big break came on easter sunday 2005 when with the help of dads friend we got the mini running. with a tow from a vectra van, robinsons squash bottle as a petrol tank and a bucket as a seat. literally a bucket seat :D

from here we went on to strip the mechaical stuff, radiator exhaust and other bits and pieces. we borrowed many tools as we didnt have many of our own. rollpin punches, big sockets etc

by late may we had removed the engine this was put on a table a pushed to the side.

by august we had moved in to the front brake and suspension setup. taking our time remove bits. everything thing we tried to came to a halt because we didnt know what to do or we didnt have the right tools for the job.

in the mean time i was on ebay looking for bargins. admittedly i didnt know what i was looking for with regards quailty etc. but its a great way to learn!

by march 2006 the front subframe was finally out.
i spent a lot of time degeasing it and de rusting it with a wire brush attachment on a very dodgy old drill.

in june 2006 i aquired the 13" alloys from the tyre centre i was working for.

the summer holidays t in 06 i spent bringing the front subframe back to shine and then painting it hammerite silver.

after this i stopped writing my build diary. but i kept a note on a calender and soon after i stopped doing that. i regret that now.
