We have built several Mini Classic rally cars down through the years and thought about a MINI a while back but thought it was too heavy and underpowered in Cooper form , then the 'S' is handicapped by the 'forced induction regs' . how competitive was that car ? on both gravel and Tarmac ?

After id mapped the ECU, and it got the proper Leda suspension it was really competitive, even against the higher engine`d 205s. Because its classed in the 16v section....doh. Damn rules !

I remember the one rally we did we was 3rd in class...and exceptional drive by the guys, but if my mem serves me correct the co driver go to the time point a few minutes too early which gave us a time penalty of 5-10 minutes which dropped us down.

I used to follow around and make sure the maps were correct for different scenarios which was quite fun.

We also did a drive through, loads of MINIs in Arbroath (scotland) infact it was the legendary Cullen run that newminiscotland hosts. OMG what a laugh, sitting in the drivers seat, headphones on chatting away. Was awesome on some of the tarmac rounds round there!
