Hi Niall , spotted the MINI Saturday alright , not sure what I was up-to , how often do you get to Cork ? . The clay bar is brilliant , I used to look at the American 'detailing' forums and be wondering about the sanity of these guys using what looks like plasticine to get rid of contaminants from their paintwork , until I got some and tried it its amazing , run your hand over the roof of your car and you will feel a roughness or grittiness in your paint , use the clay bar and its 'lubricant' and you will get a glass like finish , follow up with a good polish and a wax and its serious shine time . the new Autoglym HD wax is amazing as well , easy to apply using the special applicator pad supplied and then leave for at least 15 mins then just rub off with the microfiber cloth supplied , We are working on a Club discount on the whole range .

And so the work begins...I have the S over a year now and havent touched it so the time has come to start the work....

the plan is that the S is booked in for JCW brake kit next wednesday. Sorry Ger i would have loved to give it to you to do but i just cant get down to Cork for a while to come, but i will be calling on you for the pulley conversersion later in the year hopefully!

Then the ICE 'goodies' will be ordered at the same time. Ipod kit and handsfree kit.

Then might order one of those davef hybrid air boxes. seemingly they make the power much smoother. any ideas on this?

as for the exterior i think it looks good enough so might leave as is. if anyone has suggestions let me know.

You won't get much power from any induction kit 1 or 2 bhp at the most. some will cause a loss in power. The dave.f or jcw seem to work the best as they are both sealed units and don't suffer from as much heat soak as others. Some use open tops and seal against the bonnet like GTT/Alta but from what I have been told they suffer from more heat soak.

The most that you will gain from an induction kit better response from the engine and the noise. If its more s/c noise you want, go for an alta v2 and take out the back panel, it you want more of a balance go for davef or jcw or m7. dave f is the cheapest and has give the best numbers.

It is probably the first engine mod you should do just so the engine can breathe better. I got my info from guys who run this box with 280 bhp and who have the gear to test it.

if you don't want to spent that much then a good airfilter (k and n, ITG, etc) will help, the others have another air feed to aid in cooling. Ger/Owen/all the other experienced heads in here am I close enough or is there more to add? Or is it a case of :iamwithstupid:

(mods this question might need its own thread) :icon_salut:

well the new brake jcw upgrade was done today and those front discs are big! cant believe the difference in size with them. they havent really been tested this weekend so i might take a run down the country to heat them up.

so whats next on the list???? ummmm

Thats expensive, but probably close to the mark, though you could fit it yourself. I'd say next on the list is pulley, manifold, GRS and chip.

Got the S recently serviced in Frank Keanes prior to its first NCT. i cant recommend them more, excellent service and the car came back shining. Cant help but feel that the MiniClub sticker on the back window might have helped.

also it flew through the NCT. best results ive ever seen on the test.

Glad to hear you've had good experiences with Frank Keane's Niall!

Mine was in there today!

Just collected at 6:30 this evening, and the car was really sparkling! Every part of the alloys were shining too!

Great set of people there.
