Good servicing is vital alright and also doing regular weekly oil level checks because they can be fond of it.

Speaking of oil my dipstick was broken when the car came to me with half still stuck in the sump and tube! I managed to get this out over the weekend using stiff wire, pliers and much patience and swearing!

Seems its a very common problem.

Anyway my new "Dipstick Removal Tool" was safely stowed in the toolbox.

Yeah it's very common for the 'S' dipsticks to break. Mine bit the dust long ago. Not too dear to replace though so not too bad.

My driver's side rear brake caliper seized up on tuesday :( Typical bad luck, however I did have some luck too. My car was parked in a carpark when some some guy in a red Focus decided to reverse into the front left of my car, I could see that he had made contact and ran up to inspect. Seems he reversed into the tyre which was turned outwards, safely preventing any damage!

Seriously lucky.

Ah these things happen I guess. Looks like it's going to be fairly expensive though.

well wear lad, she looks well paintwork if very well looklng.

if you're going for a respray on the interior bits Alcantara look can look well if you want to go away from the stock grey. Suggest loosing the lexis style lights and the chrome mirrors on the aesthetics front. Possible redo the grill decals on the rear bumper if they've gone a browny/gold colour &/or cracking (happened with mine and replacing gave the back a big lift when i did them), and get yourself a three spoke steering wheel.

performance wise, depends what you're after but I'd suggest a full fluid change if she's new to you including gearbox oil (piece of mind). If you're changing any bushes powerflex all the way. And I'd suggest getting yourself a set of strut tower plates esp if you're running anything 17" + or runflats (if you have run flats burn them, breakdown assistance is better on your back)
