Opinions ?

Heads wrecked trying to decide on wheels, I like the original wheels buy want to do something different,

I thinking of a refurb and getting them done grey.

Or these were the original plan.

And to really mix things up I'm currently winning a bid on eBay for a set of these which if i win will be the deciding factor I suppose. ;)

At the moment I'm kinda steering towards the first pic, I'm going to de-chrome the car, grill, headlights etc and I'm thinking down the line of grey stripes.

Something like this only with the grey stripes to match the wheels ?

Also ordered the resonator delete hose, and black wrap for the chrome.

Wanting to get the performance upgrades done before the remap

I can't stop lol

Picked up a parrot MKi9200 phone kit, it had to be wired directly into the stereo, holy god if never come across a car with a stereo that was so hard to get to, Well worth it though especially that I have my iPod working again..

Ye so far it seems great. I have to say the amp for it is excellent, much better sound quality than the standard stereo while playing the iPod or songs through Bluetooth.

Anyone know if removing the turbo down pipe cat causes any issues (engine lights) or if its even worth doing, will this cause an nct fail or will it be ok the second exhaust cat will still be in place ?

Thanks

A small update on the auto open boot, I have found the correct sized spring and after a weeks use it has worked perfect every time.

It is done by simply adding 2 springs (1 to each side) to the struts by removing the bottom fixing cup from the strut and sliding the spring up the rod.

Image

I added tape to make it look better and to hold the spring to the strut to stop it sliding up and down as the boot is opened.

Image

This is all that is needed to make this work.

2 x 44mm light load die springs.

The springs are cheap but unfortunitly the postage from this company is expensive.

This works on the r56 but not sure about the r50/r53

The automatic boot is awesome. There must be an engineering place here in cork that could supply them too (however, knowing this country they would probably end up more expensive that paying for that postage :D)

Finally some stuff started to arrive.

Alta CAI arrived but i am still waiting on some hoses which should be here early next week.

Image

Light black lens tint. I have to say im loving the difference it has made. The headlights came out great but the rear lights have a few small creases at the edges as they were very curved at the corners, I have to order more as i forgot about the fog lights so ill have another go. Its the OCD coming out in me :p
It dosnt seem to effect the light at all which is all i was worried about. Drove to work in the dark this morning and the light was perfect.

Image

Black wrap for chrome delete, This was very easy to fit and came out really nice, I still have a few more bits to do, Fuel cap, chrome trim and I might try tackle the door handles but i cant imagine this working as they are a curve, so i may have to order black handles.

Resonator delete hose.
This would have been easy to fit if the screw for the baffle wasnt so hard to get to, I ended up breaking the clip to remove it :( Once it was off it only took 2 minutes to fit the new pipe.

And to continue on, today I tackled the stripes, the grey looks a lot darker on the car when it did on the roll. I'm glad I didn't get it any darker.
I really like the look and when the wheels are done grey too it will really come together.
