Drums will never be as good as discs BUT if you use new cylinders and shoes and make sure your adjusters are working correctly you will have decent brakes . problems are you will have to adjust regularly and if you are driving hard you will get fade . this is also a problem with the 998 Cooper 7" discs and even Cooper S 7.5 " will fade with hard use and poor quality pads . so to summarise , drums can be ok if everything is in good condition and you are prepared to adjust regularly OR unfortunately spend the €€€€€ on a NEW 7.5" disc conversion .
